I'm not certain I can tell you exactly what we expected, but we enjoyed ourselves far more than we imagined in our nation's capitol. Perhaps it was more of the things we enjoy (culture, art, architecture, ethnic food, good public transit, active people, etc) and less of what we don't (traffic, crime, trash, expensive parking, high-rises, etc).

In the end, if the opportunity arises, we'll live there someday!
